Supported by Innovate UK and developed in partnership with RSSL, Imperial College London and The Supplant Company, the Novel Foods Expert Network for Regulatory Challenges (NFX UK) aims to drive innovation and streamline regulatory pathways in the Novel Foods sector.
The live webinar, now available to watch on demand, featured RSSL’s Jane Staniforth (Head of Innovation and Research Collaboration) and Sonalika Jain, (Research Partner and NFX UK Project Lead) alongside John-Felipe Murphy (Regulation and Scale-Up Manager from Imperial) at the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein. The panel offered key insights into the network’s vision, milestones and opportunities for industry collaboration.
NFX UK’s mission
NFX UK is designed to foster innovation and collaboration across the Novel Foods sector, serving as a pioneering national platform to accelerate the development and commercialisation of new food technologies and products.
Its goal is to encourage and build connections across the industry, creating a strong and informed community capable of navigating complex regulatory frameworks.

During the session, the team unveiled the official NFX UK branding, reflecting the network’s ambition to become a central hub for knowledge sharing, ecosystem building and technical expert engagement. Plans for a dedicated website and Knowledge Hub were also announced, which will host essential resources, best practices and tools to support businesses working with Novel Food products.
Further development of the NFX UK ecosystem includes the launch of an expert directory, a members’ forum and proactive engagement with UK regulatory bodies to ensure an effective two-way dialogue that supports both innovation and compliance.
